Bhubaneswar: The Winter Session began on a stormy note today as members of Opposition Congress and BJP continued to create a ruckus in the House over farmer issues in the State.
The Assembly was adjourned till 12.14 pm and later till tomorrow after Congress and BJP members rushed to the Well of House insisting on a discussion on farmers’ issues.
As the House met at 11 am, Leader of the House and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik brought an obituary reference in the name of the former Government Deputy Chief Whip Prasanna Kumar Pal, former Member Banshidhar Sahoo, former Assam Rifles Rifle Man Champeswar Mahakud, former CRPF Driver Braja Mohan Behera and former Doordarshan Cameraman Achyutananda Sahu on the first day of its 14th Winter session.
After a one-minute silence was observed by Members as a mark of respect to the departed souls, the Congress members rushed into the Well of the House raising slogans on the problems being faced by farmers before Speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat could start the Question Hour.
Unable to run the House, the Speaker adjourned the House till 12.14 pm.
When the House met again, there was no improvement in the situation. The Speaker adjourned the House till 10.30 am tomorrow.
