New Delhi, May12: The Delhi Crime Branch has arrested an Indian Air Force (IAF) jawan for allegedly leaking confidential information to a stranger after being ‘honey-trapped’, IAF officials said on Thursday.
The IAF jawan has been identified as Devendra Sharma. Sharma works at Air Force Records Office in Subroto Park, Delhi.
The officials have also said that the unknown girl that extracted information from Sharma is suspected to be Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent.
“We received a complaint from IAF stating that Sharma had leaked information about defence installations after deceitfully getting the information from computers. He allegedly leaked information to an agent of an adversary country and also received money for the same,” a police statement said.
According to the police, Sharma met the Woman on Facebook. The woman then befriended him and tried to collect information about the IAF.
“She was trying to get information about positions of IAF radars, posting of senior officials and their details,” the police said in a statement.
“We have analysed his wife’s bank account and found suspicious transactions. We found the number used by the woman and are trying to trace her,” a police officer said.
