Varanasi, Nov 13: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that Hindi is the friend of all indigenous languages. Addressing the Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan in Varanasi on the second day of his visit to the city, Shah said, “Hindi is the friend of all indigenous languages. India’s prosperity lies in the prosperity of our Indian languages.” I have seen that a sense of inferiority complex was installed in the minds of the children who couldn’t speak English. It is my firm belief that the time is not far when those who can’t speak their mother tongue will feel inferiority complex, he added. A country that cannot preserve its languages cannot also preserve its culture and organic thought process. So, it is very important for us to preserve and prosper our languages, he said.
