Bhubaneswar, June 25: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today proposed forming a high-level committee for Rourkela Steel Plant expansion.
A key meeting was held in New Delhi to address issues related to the expansion of the Rourkela Steel Plant. The meeting was attended by HD Kumaraswamy, Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, Jual Oram, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education.
Dharmendra Pradhan proposed forming a high-level committee to fast-track the resolution of challenges affecting the plant's expansion. The proposal was accepted by Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
Dharmendra Pradhan underscored that the expansion of Rourkela Steel Plant is crucial for Odisha’s industrial growth, socio-economic development, and employment generation.
The initiative supports Purvodaya vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at driving economic progress in Eastern India and strengthening India’s self-reliance in core industries.
The expansion will enhance steel production, reduce dependence on imports, support allied industries, and create substantial job opportunities in Odisha.
