Puri,June 19: Herbal care of the deities in Puri Shrimandir is going to be performed today. The deities who have hibernated in the Anasara Gruha, the divine quarantine of Lord Jagannath and his siblings after the grand bath, will be treated with the traditional procedure to minimize pain and soars of the ailing Gods. The deities of the Shri Jagannath temple in Puri have taken ill after a luxurious bath on Debasnana Purnima which was held on June 14, to get rid of the scorching sun in the mid-summer. The divine siblings are now battling a strong fever and are being cured at a secret place on the temple premises in the quarantine home ‘Anasara ghara’. It’s why the servitors of the temple have begun the special phuluri tela seva which is a unique healing method in the Vedic and Ayurvedic science, in order to cure the deities effectively. According to the Jagannath cult, Phuluri tela is one of the important medicines used in the process of healing the gods. This special oil used during the hibernation of the ailing deities, is prepared on Hera Panchami — the fifth day of the rath yatra festival — to be applied on the idols during the following year’s hibernation. The treatment of the deities is always done with herbal medicines during the entire fortnight of ansara or hibernation every year before rath yatra. {"id":191587,"width":842,"height":552,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} A wide range of natural elements, mainly flowers such as ketaki, malli, boula, champa, kia, barks and roots such as benachara, sesame oil, sandalwood powder, camphor, rice grains and many other ingredients are used while making the phuluri, which is prepared by the Bada Odia Matha in Puri.
