Koraput, Dec 2: Police and excise officials jointly destroyed ganja plantation in 103 acres in Koraput district, police said on Wednesday.
The joint team cut the plantations in a forest near Atanda and Banur villages under Padwa police limits.
Later, they set those on fire and destroyed. Estimated value of the plantation would be worth around Rs 12 crore, said an excise official.
“Joint operation was conducted with Excise Dept. about destruction of illegal hemp cultivation near Atanda & Banur village under Padwa PS. Approx. 1,23,600 hemp plants covering in 103 acres of Govt. land costs around 12 crores as per the estimation of Excise Dept. was destroyed,” said Koraput SP on Twitter.
