Bargarh, August 31: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Bargarh district, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
In view of the weather forecast and the possibility of waterlogging and other rain-related disruptions, the Bargarh district administration has announced that all government and private schools in the district will remain closed on Monday.
The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students amid the possibility of intense rainfall. According to the IMD forecast, several parts of Bargarh district are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain during the next 24 hours.
Continuous rainfall could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, disruption of road connectivity and possible flooding, raising concerns over the safety of students travelling to and from schools.
The district administration has advised residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the possibility of rain-related emergencies. Authorities are closely monitoring areas vulnerable to flooding and waterlogging and have said that immediate action will be taken wherever necessary.
The school closure is applicable for one day, on Monday, as a precaution against the adverse weather conditions.
