Bhubaneswar: The Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), SOA University here predicated heavy rains in south Odisha districts by the impact of Andhra Pradesh-headed cyclonic storm on today and tomorrow.
Heavy rains will occur in south Odisha districts. Besides, some coastal districts like Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Ganjam would also witness rains. South districts will witness wind blow from 50 to 70 km per hour during the period, said CEC Director Sarat Chandra Sahu.
The districts which are likely to witness rains are Malkangiri, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi.
The State Government has advised farmers of these districts to shift paddy plants, which have been cut for harvest, to safer places and not to keep paddy in the open harvesting yard. Fishermen have also been advised not venture into the Bay of Bengal.
