
Bhubaneswar, October 12: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for multiple districts in Odisha, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h over the next three days. These adverse weather conditions are expected to continue until October 15.
In its mid-day weather bulletin, the IMD predicted that on October 13, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely at isolated locations in Malkangiri, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are anticipated in Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.
On October 14, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and surface winds of 30–40 km/h are expected to affect Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
The yellow warning remains in effect on October 15 for Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam, with similar weather conditions likely to prevail.
The IMD also noted that no weather warnings have been issued for the period following October 15, suggesting a likely improvement in conditions thereafter.
