Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: A fresh low-pressure area is expected to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal around September 2, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue heavy rain warnings for several districts in Odisha over the next four days.
According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely in many parts of the state until September 3.

Marine advisory:
- Squally weather with wind speeds of 30–40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph, is expected along and off Odisha coast and over the North Bay of Bengal from September 2 to 4.
- Sea conditions will be moderate to rough.
- Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
