Bhubaneswar, April 19: A relentless heatwave continues to grip Odisha, with Jharsuguda reporting a sweltering 43.3 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature recorded in the state, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD noted that more than 14 locations across the state surpassed the 40°C mark, sparking heightened concerns among residents and local authorities alike.

In response to the severe weather, several districts have declared school closures and adjusted working hours to mitigate the effects of the intense heat. Meteorologists warn that hot and humid conditions are likely to persist in the region in the coming days.
