Nuapada: An arrested hardcore Maoist today escaped from the police custody in the premises of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court in Nuapada district today.
The Maoist identified as Manoj Madkami of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh was arrested on May 30 from Parapani forest in Nuapada district. He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head.
He escaped from the police custody by jumping the boundary of the court premises while he was being brought to the court from jail for production.
Madkami was an area committee member of the Bargarh-Bolangir Mahasamund Division of CPI (Maoist) organisation and involved in several cases including murder, torching and exchange of fire with police.
