Bhubaneswar: Hockey Association of Odisha announces the selection of the 18-member Odisha Junior Women’s squad, set to compete in the 14 Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2024. The eleven-day championship will take place in Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium, Ranchi, from 30 Sep–10 Oct.
Odisha is poised to face strong contenders, including Hockey Bengal and Hockey Bihar in the group stage and would begin their campaign with an exciting match against Hockey Bihar on 2 October, setting the tone for a thrilling tournament.
The team would be marshalled by Sumi Mundari, who will be supported by her mid-field counterpart Tanuja Toppo as the vice-captain.
“Our girls have undergone intense training over the past couple of months, while blending into each other’s game style. The preparatory matches have been crucial in refining the skills and assessing their readiness. The girl’s feel confident about their performance in the tournament and I am optimistic about our prospects in the championship” expressed Chief Coach Lilima Minz.
CEO Hockey Promotional Council Odisha, Deepankar Mohopata, President of Hockey Association of Odisha, Dr. Dilip Tirkey, and other DSYS and HAO dignitaries, interacted with the team and wished them best of luck for the tournament.
