Berhampur, July 4: In a major breakthrough, the Berhampur Police have arrested Ranjan Parida, the Ganjam district head of the controversial Green India chit fund company, after 11 years of evading the law.

Parida, a resident of Ralaba village under the Hinjili police limits, had been absconding since 2014 following allegations of large-scale financial fraud. According to police sources, Green India was involved in duping investors by collecting crores of rupees under the pretext of lucrative returns. While the main head of the organization was arrested earlier, Parida had remained elusive for over a decade.

He is accused of cheating investors out of approximately ₹10 crore. Acting on a tip-off, Jagannathprasad Police successfully apprehended him from Brahmapur.

The police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals linked to the scam and bring them to justice.
