Puri, May 30: The grand ‘Mahasnan’ ritual of Lord Jagannath was performed at the Shreemandir on Saturday, leading to the temporary suspension of general darshan for devotees. The information was confirmed by the temple administration.
According to sources, devotees were having the customary morning darshan when some servitors noticed traces of phlegm near the Bhitara Katha area inside the temple premises. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the Shreemandir administration.
Following consultations between temple officials and servitors, a decision was taken to conduct the Bada Mahasnan ritual in accordance with established temple traditions and religious customs. The purification ceremony of the deities was subsequently carried out following the prescribed rituals.
As per temple norms, public darshan remained suspended during the performance of the 'Bada Mahasnan' ceremony. After the completion of the ritual, general darshan resumed and devotees were once again allowed to have the darshan of the deities.
Temple authorities informed that all rituals and darshan arrangements are currently proceeding as usual.
