Bhubaneswar, April 23: The School and Mass Education Department is set to take a final decision on the declaration of school holidays across the state on Thursday, informed Minister Nityananda Gond.
The decision will be taken after a crucial meeting with the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC). The minister said the state is currently grappling with severe heat wave conditions, prompting the closure of schools in several districts.
So far, holidays have been declared in more than 18 districts due to rising temperatures. In some areas, district administrations have also extended the holidays period depending on the local situation.
The minister further added that discussions regarding statewide school closures have already been held with the Chief Minister. The outcome of Thursday’s meeting is expected to determine whether all schools in the state will remain closed in view of the prevailing heat wave.
