Govt proposes to establish 7844 new anganwadi centres

Bhubaneswar, Mar 27: The state government has put forth a proposal to the Centre for opening of 7844 more Anganwadi centres . However, the Centre has asked for a further review, said Women and Child Development Minister Tukuni Sahu. Besides, opening of another 1576 new centres across the malnutrition prone districts is underway. The department has empowered the concerned collectors to expedite the process. Each and every centre has been funded with Rs 7 lakh, said the Minister Similarly, new centres are being established in the urban slums to ensure early childhood education and care. All the concerned collectors have been asked to constitute committees for site selection, in case they face any problem regarding site selection.
