Cuttack, April 15: Government must have to regularize contractual jobs after six years of service, ordered the Orissa High Court. Hearing a petition of a Multipurpose Health worker of District Headquarters Hospital, Nayagarh, Manas Ranjan Pattnaik, Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi passed this order in favour of the contractual employees. The order reads, the government is an ideal employer. Accordingly, it should act on the commitments given to the employee at the time of appointment. If a contractual employee continues to serve for a period of six years continuously, the job must be regularised. Thus, the department has directed the Health and Family Welfare Department to regularize the male multipurpose workers who have been serving since 15 years as contractual staff. In addition, the pleas of the Health officials, not to regularize the Multipurpose Health workers have been rejected by the bench, terming it as legally unacceptable.
