Bhubaneswar, Mar 25: Odisha Government has allotted residential plots in the capital city to the residents on lease. An agreement executed by the authorities at the time of transfer of the said land specifies the time period during which the allotted land will be utilized for homestead purpose, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Responding to a question of Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the chief minister said, some land allotees convert their leasehold property to freehold as per convenience. As a result no specific information is readily available on the unutilized plots. On the other hand, the concerned officials are collecting data on the allotees whose cases are subjudice in courts for various disputes.
