Bhubaneswar, May 3: With non-implementation of the Panchayats’ Extension to Scheduled Areas Act (PESA) in the state yet, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati suggested the state government to constitute a high-level task force to review its process.
During a comprehensive review meeting of the ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backwards Classes Welfare Department on Friday, the Governer said, since robust implementation of the PESA needs intervention of
Multiple departments a dedicated task force led by the chief minister can resolve implementation of the key legislation soon.
Expressing concern over the delay in framing the rules for PESA, the governor asked officials to expedite the process.
He also emphasised on regular sessions of the Tribal Advisory Council at least twice a year, as mandated by the Constitution.
