Puri, Oct 6: Special ritual “ Goshani Yatra” in Puri, which was scheduled to be held on Thursday, has been postponed due to heavy rain. The Puri district administration rescheduled it to Friday, after a discussion with the stakeholders. Sources said that the famous Gosani Festival was to be held on Thursday night. However, it was postponed due to the heavy rain, the Puri town experienced today. It was decided after a discussion by the district admin held with the intermediation of the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration(SJTA). As many as 60 presiding deities of at least 42 streets from the Puri town are brought together with a procession before the Singha Dwara of the Jagannath temple as part of the Gosani festival. Every year on the Ekadasi day following the Vijaya Dasami, all the Gosani idols of different streets in Puri gather in front of the Jagannath Temple. They bless the people of Puri and avert their misfortunes.
