Visakhapatnam, Aug 29: A goods train derailed at Vizianagaram Railway Station yard under the Waltair division of East Coast Railway on Thursday, leading to major disruptions in train services.
As a result of the mishap, nine trains have been controlled at en route stations. The affected services include the Bhubaneswar–Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express (20841), Howrah–SMVT Bangalore Express (12863), Bhubaneswar–KSR Bangalore Prashanti Express (18463), Shalimar–Vasco-da-Gama Express (18047), Rourkela–Gunupur Rajyarani Express (18117), Patna–Ernakulam Express (22644), Howrah–Chennai Mail Express (12839), Bhubaneswar New–Visakhapatnam Intercity Express (22819), and Bhubaneswar New–Secunderabad Visakha Express (17015).
Restoration work is underway on a war footing, with railway authorities striving to normalise movement in the affected section at the earliest. Officials have assured that every effort is being made to reduce passenger inconvenience and ensure safety during the ongoing operations.
