Baripada, Ap 14: A girl student, Rupali Beshra, tragically passed away today while undergoing treatment at Baripada PRM Medical College and Hospital. She had been suffering from severe diarrhea and vomiting after allegedly consuming stale food at the Kakabandha Ashram School hostel in Rasagobindapur area.

The incident occurred on Sunday when 146 boys and girls residing in the school hostel fell ill after eating food served in the hostel mess. All affected students were rushed to the local hospital, and 60 in critical condition were later transferred to Baripada PRM Medical College and Hospital for specialized care.

Rupali succumbed to her illness despite treatment, triggering strong anger and concern among parents and local residents. Many have questioned the hygiene and food safety standards maintained in the ashram school hostel, demanding accountability and stricter oversight.

Local authorities have yet to release a statement regarding the incident, and investigations are reportedly underway.
