Puri, November 18: Counting of gems & Jewels retrieved from the Puri Ratna Bhandar will be concluded before January 2025, said Odisha Law Minister Prithwiraj Harichandan on Monday.
While answering the queries of journalists on the quantitative and qualitative assessments of the valuables retrieved from the Srimandir Ratna Bhandar, Harichandan said that the gems & jewels are now in the lock &key of the temporary treasury set up at the Seja Ghara.
The inner chamber of the Ratna Bhandar at Srimandir in Puri was reopened on July 18, after yugs together, with the intervention of the newly instituted BJP government in the state.
A panel under the aegis of the Ratna Bhandar Inventory Committee entered the Ratna Bhandar for the second time in this week, at an auspicious time 9.51 am.
As announced by Justice Biswanath Rath, chairman of the High-level Committee while entering the Ratna Bhandar, the gems and Jewels of the inner cellar will be properly verified. Following this, they will be ported to the Changada Ghar, to the temporary locker for accounting and video documentation.
Worth mentioning, the high-level panel accompanied by the ASI and Shri Jagannath Temple Administration had earlier verified the belongings of the outer cellar of the Ratna Bhandar on July 14, following statutory nod of the government.
