Ganjam: Bookie arrested for betting on IPL, Rs 72 lakh seized

Berhampur, Feb 26: The Berhampur police arrested a man from Kolkata in connection with a betting case on IPL, informed Ganjam SP Pinak Mishra in a presser on Friday. The police have also seized Rs 72 lakh bank deposits of the accused, identified as Dinesh Kumar Rathi. Addressing media persons, the SP also informed that the police have arrested total seven persons in this connection. Two bookies were arrested on October 19 last year, identified as Prashant Subudhi and Lali Achari with seizure of Rs 33.61 lakh and four mobile phones. Similarly, another two bookies identified as Vishal Agarwal and Ajit Kumar Barad were arrested on December 7 with seizure of Rs 1.95 lakh and seven mobile phones from their possession. Later, police arrested one Ajay Panda on December 13 and seized Rs 11,500 from his possession. Investigations are on to nab more persons involved in the betting, said police.
