Ganja cultivation worth Rs 14 crore destroyed in Gajapati

Gajapati, Nov 26: In a special drive against illicit cultivation of ganja, police and excise officials destroyed cannabis cultivation spread across 69 acres of land in Mohana block of Gajapati district on Friday. Acting on a tip-off, police, excise and forest officials jointly conducted raids at Guimera and Sinkulipadar villages in Baghamari panchayat under Mohana police limits and destroyed the illegal cultivation spread across 69 acres of land. The estimated worth of the destroyed crops is over Rs 14 crore. Worth mentioning, police along with the excise officials have launched ‘Operation green clean’ aiming to curb the smuggling of ganja in the state. In this drive, the officials have destroyed ganja cultivation worth over Rs 84 crore spread across 457 acres of land in Mohana, Adaba and R. Udayagiri areas of Gajapati district within the last week.
