
Bhubaneswar, Oct 12: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Saturday called the father of the Odia medical student who was gang-raped in West Bengal’s Durgapur and promised to provide all possible help.
CM Majhi spoke with the student’s father, who lives in the Jaleswar area of Balasore district. He expressed his sympathy and assured him of all possible help.
The Chief Minister said he was “deeply saddened and heartbroken” when he heard about the incident and expressed understanding of the emotional distress faced by the victim’s family. He assured the father that the state government is dedicated to supporting the girl's swift recovery and helping her return to a normal life.
CM Majhi said that a strong request has been made to the West Bengal Chief Minister for strict punishment for the culprits. A senior official from Odisha is in contact with the West Bengal government to offer legal and other necessary support.
The Chief Minister has also instructed the Balasore SP to stay in touch with the Durgapur police and ensure they receive the needed assistance.
The victim’s father thanked CM Majhi for his sympathy and support, expressing gratitude for the state government's efforts to help his daughter during this difficult time.
