Bhubaneswar, April 15: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday participated in the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ Townhall programme here and hailed the “Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam saying, “It is a game-changing movement enabling millions of women to lead and define the future of the nation.”
“The role of women in the journey of development is unparalleled. A special session of Parliament has been called from 16-18 April for Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. In this session, several important Bills will be passed. A constitutional amendment will be done, and the strength of the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha will be increased. In 2029 general elections, women will be given 33% reservation in Lok Sabha as well as Vidhan Sabha. This Bill is essential,” said Majhi.
“The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is a game-changing movement - not merely a law - that is enabling millions of women to lead and define the future of the nation,” asserted Majhi.
Reaffirming the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister emphasised that greater participation of women in legislative institutions will strengthen democracy and accelerate progress.
“From grassroots leadership to policy-making, Odisha’s women continue to demonstrate exceptional capability and determination, driving the vision of a Viksit Bharat,” added Majhi.
Maintaining that the honour and empowerment of Nari Shakti are at the root of the Indian culture, Majhi said, “Under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the historic ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ will further strengthen women's participation in policy-making in the coming days.”
“The role of women in Odisha’s journey of development is unparalleled. Women-led development has become the core mantra of our Government. From the Subhadra Yojana to the Lakhpati Didi initiatives, every effort of our Government is aimed at making women self-reliant. The substantial budget allocation made for the welfare of women in the current budget reflects our Government’s commitment. I urge all stakeholders to move forward together towards building a “Prosperous Odisha” and a “Developed India” by harnessing the immense potential of women’s power,” said Chief Minister Majhi.
The Chief Minister also participated in a signature campaign at a "Nari Shakti Vandan" programme to promote women’s empowerment and support for the Women's Reservation Bill.
