Dhenkanal, June 4: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for a series of developmental and industrial projects in Dhenkanal.

Addressing a large gathering, the Chief Minister formally launched industrial projects worth over ₹50,000 crore, including a landmark ₹30,000 crore investment in solar energy. Alongside this, he inaugurated 12 development projects worth ₹112 crore and laid foundation stones for another 10 projects amounting to ₹76 crore.

A key highlight of the event was the foundation stone laying for the Baji Rout Sports Complex at Banamaliprasad, a tribute to Odisha’s youngest freedom fighter. The sports complex will be developed with a budget of around ₹120 crore and will feature a football stadium, synthetic athletic track, hockey training center, indoor stadium, swimming pool, and a 100-bed sports hostel.

"This mega investment will serve as a new stream in Odisha's journey of development. Dhenkanal, with its focus on solar energy, will soon emerge as a leading district in Odisha’s renewable energy map," said the Chief Minister.

He emphasized that the state is aiming to harness solar energy not only for Odisha but also to contribute significantly to the national energy grid. The newly launched industrial projects are expected to generate around 26,400 direct and indirect employment opportunities across the region.

In a move to support youth employment, CM Majhi noted that the government has already filled 27,000 vacant posts in its first year and has set a target of filling 40,000 more this year. Additionally, the upper age limit for government job applications has been extended to 42 years, providing broader opportunities for job seekers.

Speaking on youth empowerment, he said, “The Baji Rout Sports Complex will inspire the younger generation and strengthen the sporting infrastructure in the region. Youth are the builders of tomorrow, and sports will play a key role in shaping their future.”

Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, who was present at the event, praised the CM’s efforts to industrialize Odisha within six months and promised continued focus on employment generation through industrial expansion.

Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Krushna Chandra Patra also spoke at the event, emphasizing the government’s dedication to fulfilling its promises and working relentlessly for the people.

The event was attended by several dignitaries including MP Rudranarayan Pani, MLAs Shatrughan Jena (Kamakshyanagar), Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan (Parjang), Seemarani Nayak (Hindol), and Ashok Mahanty (Pallahara).
