Free Fire game: Minor boy dies due to mental distress in Odisha

Keonjhar, July 29: Online game ‘Free Fire’ has been proved fatal for a minor boy in Odisha’s Keonjhar district. A Class X student has succumbed to mental distress after being addicted to the game on Thursday. The deceased boy has been identified as Agasti Khanda, son of Kuanra Khanda of Akhupala village under Harichandanpur police limit in Keonjhar. Sources said Agasti, a class X student was using his father’s cell phone for online classes. However, he used to play the ‘Free Fire’ game with the phone and became addicted to it. Meanwhile, he lost his mental balance and gradually became maladjusted. He was admitted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital for treatment on Tuesday. Subsequently, he was referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack on Wednesday after his mental condition worsened. However, he succumbed to mental distress there in the morning.
