Four arrested in minor trafficking case; victim rescued from Madhya Pradesh

Kishorenagar Police have arrested four persons in connection with a human trafficking case involving the alleged sale and sexual exploitation of a minor girl. The accused have been booked on charges of human trafficking, sexual abuse and exploitation.

Angul, June 11: Kishorenagar Police have arrested four persons in connection with a human trafficking case involving the alleged sale and sexual exploitation of a minor girl. The accused have been booked on charges of human trafficking, sexual abuse and exploitation.

According to police, the case was registered at Kishorenagar Police Station on September 9, 2024, following a written complaint lodged by the victim's family. During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the minor girl had been taken away from her home on the pretext of receiving tailoring training.

Police said the accused allegedly trafficked the girl and sold her in Madhya Pradesh. Acting on intelligence gathered during the investigation, a police team rescued the victim from the state and brought her back safely.

In connection with the case, police have arrested four accused identified as Sadananda Pradhan, Banita alias Dipali Sahu, Tiruna Sahu and Samit alias Sumit Choubey. The arrests were made in phases as the investigation progressed.

Police said furthe investigation is underway to ascertain whether more individuals were involved in the trafficking network and to uncover the full extent of the crime.
