Mumbai, May 10: MK Kaushik, a key member of India’s last Olympic gold-winning team died on Saturday due to Covid-19. Tragically, his 1980 teammate Ravinder Pal Singh also died on Saturday from the same causes.
Kaushik, 66, had tested positive on April 17 and was admitted to a nursing home in New Delhi.
Former hockey centre-half Ravindra Pal Singh died of Covid-19 at Lucknow on Saturday. He was 60. He was a member of India’s gold medal-winning team of the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games.
Sources said he was admitted at Vivekananda Hospital on April 24 after contracting the virus. Singh had recovered from the virus and was shifted to non-Covid ward on Thursday after tested negative. He was again admitted and put on a ventilator after his condition deteriorated on Friday.
Born in Sitapur, he was excelled from 1979 to 1984 in hockey.
