Former Govt. ITI Principal convicted in Disproportionate Assets case

Phulbani, July 28: Saroj Kanta Ray, former Principal of Government ITI, Phulbani, and currently serving as a Lecturer in Electronics at Government Polytechnic, Dhenkanal, has been convicted in a disproportionate assets (DA) case by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani.

The court sentenced Ray to rigorous imprisonment for three years and imposed a fine of ₹50,000. The case was investigated and charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, along with Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Odisha Vigilance confirmed that they will now approach the competent authority to initiate proceedings for Ray’s dismissal from government service following his conviction.
