Former Deputy Speaker Prahalad Dora passes away at 74

Bhubaneswar, Oct 20: Former Deputy Speaker of Odisha Assembly, Prahalad Dora passed away on Wednesday at 74. Dora breathed his last at AIIMS Hospital, Bhubaneswar in the afternoon while he was undergoing treatment for comorbidities with Covid. Dora, a frontier tribal leader, born and brought up in Malkangiri district had chaired as the Deputy Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly for two terms. He held the post from the year 1990 to 1955 in the ministry of Biju Patnaik. While, he resumed it from the year 2004 to 2009 at the time of the BJD-BJP alliance government. Death of Dora has cast a pall of gloom on all sections of the society in Western Odisha, especially on the tribal community.
