Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: Former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Bijaya Mohanty passed away at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday afternoon.

Sources said Bijaya Mohanty was taken to the hospital after he was found unresponsive at a guest house here. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

Mohanty was elected twice to the Odisha Legislative Assembly on a BJD ticket from the Bhubaneswar Central constituency. He was elected as MLA in the 2009 and 2014 elections.
