Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: At a time when people across Odisha were joyfully floating boats on the occasion of  holy Kartika Purnima, a few parents mourned during it as  some kids drowned in water today.

In a shocking incident, two minor girls reportedly drowned in a pond at Panishapada village under the Basta police limits in Balasore district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as the daughters of Dilip Kumar Das and Manas Nanda, locals of the Panishapada village.

The two kids took a watery grave while recovering floated boats from the village pond. 

In another tragic incident reported from Saundia village under Khaira police limits, a three-year-old boy drowned in a pond while making fun with the floating boats, left out in the water.

In two more incidents took place at Champanagar in Malkangiri and the Salepur area in Cuttack,a minor girl and a three-year boy respectively drowned in pond during the Boita Bandan festival.
