Jammu, April 16: The security forces on Saturday detected and defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the suspicious movement in Gurdan Chawa village on Rajouri Gurdan road, a joint team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of police and the Indian army launched a joint cordon and search operation in the area in the early morning hours today.
During the search operation, the security forces recovered an IED weighing around five kilograms.
Thereafter, the bomb squad took the material in its possession for destruction as per the SOPs and through a controlled explosion, it destroyed the IED in a safe location.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, said a police official.
