Hardoi (Uttar Pradesh), May 31: In a horrific incident, at least five people including a child were killed and six others sustained critical injuries after a car carrying wedding party met with an accident in the Majhila police station area of Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district.

As per reports, the mishap took place near Bhuppa Purva turn under Majhila police limits this morning when an SUV, reportedly overloaded, went out of control, overturned and fell into a ditch. The car that had travelled from Patiyani village under Pali police limits to Kusuma village in the Majhila area.
When locals and eyewitnesses heard cries for help, they quickly rushed to the scene. Some bystanders broke the vehicle’s windows to free the people trapped inside and immediately alerted the police.
Upon getting the information, police along with emergency services, including ambulances, arrived at the spot and started the rescue efforts.
The injured persons were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The cops also seized the bodies of the deceased persons and sent them for post-mortem.
Circle Officer Anuj Mishra said, "The accident led to the instant death of five passengers. Six others were seriously injured and were first taken to a hospital in Shahabad. Doctors there declared five of them dead on arrival and referred the injured to a more advanced medical center for further treatment."
Further investigation into the incident was underway.
