Fisheries Officer held in Odisha for taking Rs 1.1 lakh bribe

Baripada, Jan 12: Vigilance sleuths today arrested Fisheries Officer of Mayurbhanj district on charges of demanding and accepting bribe. Vigilance sleuths said that the accused identified Surendra Ghadei has demanded bribe of Rs 1.1 lakh from one Dhurjati Das for issue of work order for fish firming in scheme for hatchery project and issue of subsidiary money in bioflock fishing scheme. Accordingly, a trap was laid on Tuesday and the accused was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance. “The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused. In this connection a case has been registered and further investigation is continuing,” said an official.
