Bhubaneswar: Ending all speculations, senior leader Bijay Mohapatra, who had resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party in November 2018, finally made a homecoming today.
According to reports, BJP national general secretary and Odisha prabhari Arun Singh and party’s vice-president Baijayant Panda held talks with Mohapatra for over a hour in the latter’s house here regarding his rejoining. BJP national president Amit Shah too talked to him over phone.
“BJP general secretary Arun Singh and VP Baijayant Panda held discussions with me in my house. Besides, BJP national president Amit Shah also talked to me over phone. They requested me to work for the party. I am rejoining the party with a new resolution,” said an elated Mohapatra.
Regarding his participation in election, he said the Central Election Committee of the party would take a decision in that regard. Regarding Dilip Ray, who had resigned along with him, Mohapatra said he is now outside the State and his next course of action would be known on his return only.
Panda said Mohapatra’s resignation had not been accepted and he was very much in the party. “We will work together to see that Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister for a second consecutive term. People of Odisha have opted for a change. We will also work in that regard,” said Panda.
It may be noted that Mohapatra along with former Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray had sent his resignation letters to the BJP national president Amit Shah in November last. However, their resignation was yet to be accepted.
