Bhubaneswar, Sep 20: The Odisha State Open University shall conduct its examination for the Final Year Post Graduate students from 21st September. All students enrolled in the two year Master Degree Programme are eligible to appear for the Final Semester courses as well as the left over courses of the previous semester.
The examination is conducted as per the directions of the Supreme Court upholding the decision of the UGC for conducting examination before award of degree The Higher Education Department of Govt. of Odisha have issued directions to all public Universities in the state to conduct the examination for the Final Year/Semester students between 20th Sept to 10th Oct 2020.
About 1640 students enrolled in various Master Degree Programmes in OSOU who are in the final year/semester have applied to appear the online examination starting tomorrow. Students will use their desktop/laptop/smartphone to appear the final examination.
Nearly 1225 examinees belong to rural areas and 24 of them are differently abled. The University has made elaborate arrangements such as issue of hall ticket, conduct of mock test and providing user ID and password to all candidates.
There are 11 PG programmes with 128 courses in which examination shall be conducted. There will be 16 examination days with three sittings per day starting from 10 O’ clock onwards. Students have been exempted from paying the examination fee this time so that they can buy or purchase data card using that amount for appearing that examination.
The Coordinators of all 70 study centres of Odisha and five regional centres of OSOU have been allotted to help the candidates in case they complain about the no availability of digital device and internet.
In order to maintain transparency in the conduct of Online Examination University has made elaborate arrangements to capture the photo graph of the candidate during the period of the examination so that any possibility of external support or unfair means could be detected and disciplinary action shall be initiated.
University has advised the candidates to submit their assignments and projects through the digital mode. Project viva voce is also conducted by experts using the online meeting platform after verification of the credentials of the candidate.
OSOU is planning to declare the result by 20th of October 2020 so that the students will take admission in higher courses in the Institutions both within and outside Odisha.
Dr. Srikant Mohapatra Vice Chancellor, OSOU said that it is an unique experience for the young faculty members of OSOU as well as for the learners of the University for using the online platform for conduct of examination. The services of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited have been used in conducting this examination. Dr. Mohapatra has also said that soon regular examination shall be conducted for any leftover students of final year master degree programme and for all other students of the University so that their results will be declared before 31st December 2020.
