Favipiravir tablets to be sold through 1120 stores across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 9: Odisha government today fixed the number of retail outlets for procurement and sale of Favipiravir tablets.   “In view of the increasing trend of COVID-19 positive cases in the State and corresponding increase in home quarantined patients, Government has been pleased to allow use of Favipiravir Tablets by such home quarantined patients,” read a notification issued by the Directorate of Drugs Control. The Directorate has allowed up to 40 retail outlets to procure and sell the drugs under the five municipal corporations namely Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC), Sambalpur Municipal Corporation and Rourkela Municipal Corporation. Earlier the state government has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on use of Favipiravir tablet during home isolation. The SOP enables Covid patients under home isolation to avail the benefits of antiviral therapy, i.e. Favipiravir at their door step through the large number of RRT deployed in the field to monitor Covid-19 management.
