Cuttack, Jan 1: Several farmers of Manitiri Village in Mahanga Block of Odisha’s Cuttack district have alleged that they have not been adequately compensated for their crop losses despite applying for it under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
According to the farmers, all of their crops were washed away by rain in a single day. Later, they applied for compensation under the PMFBY following which a survey was conducted by insurance company officials within 7–10 days to assess the damage.
Despite the survey, the farmers alleged that they are yet to receive any communication regarding the compensation for their losses.
The farmers opined that if their losses are not compensated, they will lose trust in the crop insurance scheme, potentially affecting participation in farming in future years.
