Bhadrak: A farmer of Sabaranga Gopala Sahi village in Bhadrak district attempted suicide after the miller refused to procure his paddy citing substandard quality.
The farmer identified as Harmohan Barik consumed pesticide and was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.
According to reports, Harmohan went to Sabaranga procurement centre to sell his produce, but miller refused to accept his crops due to bad quality. The miller’s refusal put him in severe mental stress.
Finding no alternative, he attempted suicide by consuming poison in his farm land. Villagers found him in a critical condition and rushed hospital.
