Rourkela, June 19: In a major crackdown, the Excise Department has seized a large consignment of counterfeit foreign liquor and arrested three individuals, including two liquor smugglers and a transporter.

According to officials, the illicit liquor was being smuggled from Jharkhand to Rourkela in two separate vehicles. The accused were intercepted while waiting for their associate at Munda Market in Sector-19. Acting on a tip-off, an Excise team conducted a swift raid, seizing both vehicles loaded with the fake foreign liquor.

During the operation, two key members of the smuggling network were apprehended on the spot. Subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of their associate, who was responsible for transporting the consignment further.

Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the broader network behind the illegal liquor trade.
