Subarnapur, Sept 22: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday arrested the former Principal of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) in Binika area of Odisha’s Subarnapur district for allegedly embezzling government funds amounting to Rs 55 lakhs.
The accused has been identified as Soumya Ranjan Kheti.
As per reports, he was found to have misappropriated funds allocated under several government schemes, including Mid-Day Meal (MDM), Mo School Abhijan, and Girls’ Hostel Fund for the financial years 2021-22 to 2024-25.
After receiving credible inputs in this regard, the Odisha Vigilance began its investigation.
Following a detailed inquiry, Vigilance registered a case against Kheti under relevant sections at the Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station.
He is currently under interrogation and efforts are on to ascertain the full extent of the misappropriation and the details of how the funds were diverted and used, said an official.
