English lessons from Class I in Odisha government schools

Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: The state will introduce English in Class I across all government schools from the coming session.
This was announced by school and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Saturday.
“We have decided to introduce spoken English for students from Class I to improve their standards. Preliminary, it will be introduced at 101 schools across 30 districts selected to be developed as the Centre of Excellence in the state”, said the minister.
Presently, English is being taught from Class III at government-run schools in Odisha.
