Bhubaneswar, April 27: Eminent litterateur Manoj Das passed away at the age of 87 years. He was undergoing treatment at a nursing home in Puducherry. Manoj Das was born in Balasore district and had started writing early. His first work a book of poetry in Odia, Satavdira Artanada published 1949 when he was in high school . He had launched a literary magazine, Diganta in 1950. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2001 and later awarded Padma Bhusan in 2020 for his contribution in the field of literature and education. In December Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had sent a four-member medical team from the premier Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) for treatment of Das.
