Elephant wreaks havoc in Sundergarh's Bonai

Bonai, Jan 15: Panic gripped among the locals after an elephant damaged standing paddy crops and vegetable crops over acres of area in villages under Bonai range in Sundergarh district. The elephant herd damaged four houses in Jangala and Gadaposh village. According to the sources, the elephant entered into the villages in search of food and destroyed acres of standing paddy crops and vegetable crops. The farmers in the villages have been spending sleepless nights with the elephants on a rampage. After failing to drive away the elephants, the villagers have lodged a complaint with the forest department. Following this, forest personnel has been deployed in the area to drive away the elephants.
