Elephant tramples woman to death in Khordha

Khordha, April 3: A woman and three others sustained critical injuries after they were attacked by a wild elephant at Durgaprashad village under Dhaulimunha gram panchayat in Khordha district today. The deceased has been identified as Manjulata Beher and the injured are Nityananda Behera, Mamata Bharimalla and Sasmita Bharimala of the same village. Sources said the wild elephant attacked them suddenly when they were working at the backyard of their houses. As a result, Manjulata died at the spot. Similarly, Nityananda, Mamata and Sasmita sustained severe injuries. All the injured were immediately admitted to the nearest hospital. Later, Mamata and Sasmita were shifted to AIIMS in Bhubaneswar as their condition worsened.
